RE: GPS Devices

I use Microsoft Streets & Trips on a laptop, I put the laptop on the dash. The screen is plenty big enough and you can put it away when your done with it.

RE: Stupidest thing you’ve done while RVing

Markke: Thank you for posting that. I haven't laughed like that since the kids were at home. I haven't gone camping yet but I'm sure I will have my own story really soon. G. Hi G, No problem. I have since put a ban on the kids playing with any objects that could potentially turn me into a human projectile again. Hopefully this will save a little time and a couple ribs.

Hi Totendatrailer, Unfortunately the beer didn’t make it for me but apparently it didn’t go to waste judging by the foam on my dogs face.

RE: Am I crazy Las Vegas in August?? Has anyone else done it?

You guys are scaring me now. My family and I plan to be in the LV Oasis RV Resort on July 8-10 Was there in October, its a wonderful park. I have only one 15000 btu unit in my 35ft MH. We don’t care to much about the heat during the day but we do want to be able to sleep at night. How much roughly would it cost to put in another AC? Would I also have to upgrade my electrical system? Would one AC with reflective window coverings get me down to around 70 degrees. We don’t use much AC in Canada so forgive me if I’m little naïve on the topic.

RE: You know fuel prices are high when . . .

When your trying to sell your MH for a newer model and get no bites but as soon as you add that it has a full tank of gas, the phone doesnt stop ringing.

RE: why do you camp?

1. Keeps the family close and creates great memories. 2. Love to compose music it the quite wilderness 3. Time to reflect on life 4. Better sex in the MH than at home 5. Love the idea having all the conveniences of home and then being able to step out into nature. Best of both worlds 6. Love to meet great people 7. Love a nice Australian Shiraz by a cozy fire. 8. Love to wake up today in the mountains, tomorrow in the desert and the next day at the ocean. 9. Love the sites and smells 10. Love to fly fishing. Although fish do not fear me rather they laugh at me. I love it anyway.

RE: Playing the Banjo in the Campground

"Don’t you think your infringing on this guy if you bar him from playing his banjo while he's camping? How can anyone relax or have fun if you have to tip toe around afraid you might offend someone." So not playing the ___________ (fill in blank with appropriate obnoxious instrument, drums, cymbals, harmonica, stereo, Tuba, et.al) is equated by you to having to tiptoe around? I don't really see the comparison myself. bumpy Ok let me break it down for you. “Tip toe around” = having to be overly sensitive to what others may or may not find to be obnoxious. There are obvious sounds that are obnoxious to all such as a baby crying loud non stop, profanity, screaming, generators going on to long or to late or to early etc. Any loud sounds that go on to long and or to late into the evening really. Ask anyone and the vast majority would agree. Then there are sounds that are not so obvious. That is to say that if you ask 10 people you would get varying results. As you can see by the answers in this thread, the Banjo is in the not so obvious catagory. All I was saying is, that if people are intolerant to things that are not so obvious, it creates an even bigger problem and makes everyone uncomfortable having always to decide if the smell of their food on the BBQ is annoying or is the hat I’m wearing pissing someone off etc. thus the“tip toe” expression. I personally tighten up when I hear a banjo in the wilderness. It reminds me of a disturbing Burt Reynolds movie I saw as a teen but being that this is not in the obvious category, I will tolerate it respecting others sense of enjoyment as long as it does not go on to loud to long to late or to early. DW and I agree that common sense, respect for others and tolerance is the key.

RE: Playing the Banjo in the Campground

I would find it very annoying and as obnoxious as a radio blarring. I want to get away from noise and experience peace and quiet. Remember anything you do that infringes on another is unacceptable. Don’t you think your infringing on this guy if you bar him from playing his banjo while he's camping? How can anyone relax or have fun if you have to tip toe around afraid you might offend someone. I duno. I classify the banjo somewhere between the accordion and the bag pipes. Not really my cup of tea but to each his own. The Wife and i like to listen to a little Diana Krall while dining and little Metalica just before retiring for the night. I guess as long as its not to loud and it all stops at 10PM its ok by me.

It was posted yesterday in the Truck Camper's section. http://www.fototime.com/9D7E291A2E9CB1D/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/1BC0FEDEFC42A19/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/50F4CE3127345FF/orig.jpg Please note that the Happijac tie downs survived the blast fully intact. Whoa, Kinda looks like my camp site after my horific fall

RE: Stupidest thing you’ve done while RVing

Drove off with the trailer door open and found our pots and pans a block down the road after another camper waved me down. I thought he was drunk. I did had the doors locked in first place but with kids screaming and need to use the bathroom one more time and dog getting into a fight with another dog I failed to do the final check. Sheeess I need aother beer… Why I am in charge of this mad house. Not sure!!! LOL, I hear ya with the kids screaming and having to go to the bathroom thing. Funny how kids can play for hours with out ever having to go, but when your in a hurry or on the road they seemed to have to go every 2 seconds.

Stupidest thing you’ve done while RVing

Hi Folks, I thought it might be entertaining to hear some of the stupidest things you’ve done while RVing. Cmon we all are guilty. Ill start off. After a very long winter last year in Canada we were finally able to get the then TT out for the May long weekend. We pulled into the campground and got all setup inside and out. I fired up the BBQ and went in the TT to prepare the steaks. I guess I was way to excited as I did the Ben Johnson bolt down the steps with a can of beer in each hand. With great speed I whipped around the corner, vaulted over the dog, over the cooler and was about 3 steps closer to my beckoning camp chair when to my horror, my right foot (the one being used at that moment for propulsion) stepped on a round stick that my kid was playing with earlier. I spun out launching myself into the Coleman and about 3 quarters of the way over the portable camp table cracking my knees on the propane tank in the process. When my eyes began to refocus, I found myself in a twisted pile of camping gear with my wife looking down at me shaking her head with cell in hand ready to dial the last #1 in 911. Fortunately the camp gear was ok and I escaped with only minor injuries. Any others

Any recommendations for reputable RV service in Calgary?

Hi Everyone, I bought a new Damon Daybreak last summer and i would like to get an oil change etc to prep it for this summer. The place recommended to me from the dealer is booked up until June. Can any one recommend a good honest service center that I can take it to in Calgary Alberta Canada?

Monitor Panel Question

Hi Everyone, Ths is my first post so forgive me if i put this in the wrong catagory I have a 2007 Damon Daybreak I just bought last summer. I just took it out of storage and started testing everything to ensure everything made it through the winter ok. All is good except the Monitor panels indicator lights dont come on. everything on the panel works, the pump, slide outs etc. but when i press the button for the tank levels nothing happens. I have full propane, Full battery, Full freash water and Im guessing half full grey water tank. Does anyone know what i can do to fix or should it go back to the dealer to resolve? I checked the fuse and its good. Thanx for your help
